Creating a Corner Theme

Creating a theme in Mokum Mail is really quite easy. In this lesson, we will create a simple corner stationery (with no movement) which we will save as a 'theme', ready to be used over and over again. To get you started, first click on F1 in Mokie to open your INFO files and read the book on THEMES. This will give you an overview of what options are available.

Let's get started!

Click for larger image. I have put together 2 images to use for practice or you can use your own creations. If you use mine, you will find the images MOUSE1.JPG and MOUSE2.JPG first click on each link to see the full size image and then right click on each and 'save as' to a folder where you can find them easily.

For the purposes of using this lesson here in the Academy, I have also put together ZIP file of images gathered and done by some of your very own Mentors...This way, if you have already used the images I used in this lesson, you can play with some of these. Please note that you WILL have to adjust settings as some of these images are better used in a different corner or on top or bottom for the placement rather than top/left. Click HERE to download these zipped images.

Click for larger image. I generally keep all my graphics for themes in the same folder, but that is my preference)
If you make your own, I would advise a corner graphic to be about 400px by 400px . I made the 'mail to' image smaller.

*NOTE* On image1, I have named the file using the surrounding color# as part of the name. This is very handy as you will see when we get going. STEP 1

Click for larger image. First let's click on the 'CREATE STATIONERY' button from the Main Window. Another click on your ' Theme ' button and you will see the Theme Window pop up, saying ' Default '.

Your settings may look different than mine as your 'Default' can be changed to your own liking.

STEP 2

Click for larger image. Click the file button to the right of 'Stationery Image'.

Click for larger image. And browse to your first image to be used. Mokie will now show you a thumbnail of the image you have highlighted! Single click the button to the left or use the select button to open the image.

*NOTE the color # I have used in the file name.

STEP 3

Click for larger image. For this THEME we want the picture to appear in the 'top-left'.
Simply click on the arrow next to 'PLACEMENT' and click on 'top-left'.

*NOTE... Should you want it 'top-right', 'bottom-left', 'top-center' or etc.,this is where you make that setting.

Also note in the above screen cap the arrow pointing to 'BACK' color. Since I used the surrounding color # in the name of my image file, MM has automatically filled this in for me!

STEP 4

Now we will complete the other settings:

My settings are below. I have also listed an explanation next to the picture.

Each # relates to the corresponding # in the picture.

  1. Margins: I don't like my text going all the way to the top or sides so for this theme set the top at 10, the right at 100 and the left at 350 so the text does not run over our image.

  2. Mail-Me: Here we will use Image 2. Click on the file button and browse to your image. When someone clicks on this image, it will link to your E-mail address. This can be set at L(left), R(right) or C(center).

  3. Scroll Bar Color: Here we set the 2 colors...for the face and base of the scroll bar. For this tutorial we will use the QUICK settings with just 2 colors to pick. In a later tutorial we will explain the DETAILED settings OR if you are feeling brave, read about the differences in the INFO files and try it now! ;-)

  4. Show Scroll Bar, Border, Color: 3 functions here. Most times you WILL want the scroll bar so click in the yes box. The border number is the width around the outside of your theme. And the color of course is the color for that border.

  5. Font, Font Color, and Back Color: Here you set your font, font size and font color. Remember.... we will not change the background color if you have the color # in you image file name!

  6. Quoted Text: When you use your theme to 'REPLY' to a message, the original message appears in a 'quoted box'. So when I make a theme I like to either put a background image OR a color to match. Keep in mind IF you have chosen an image, that will appear instead of a color. Here you will also set the font and font color for the quoted box.

  7. Tag Line: For a random tag line, click on the file button, choose your prefered language and click 'open'. *NOTE* Even though you can set a tag here for your theme, it will be over ruled by your Tag Line Option which is set in the Quick Message/Quick Reply window (if different there). Please refer to Tag line options in the Help file!

  8. Fixed or Scroll: With this setting either your whole stationery back will scroll with the scroll bar OR it will stay fixed and just the text etc. will scroll. For this corner theme, we want 'Fixed'.

  9. VCard, Push Ad Down, No MM Ad: Checking the box for 'VCard' avoids ads in groups. 'Push Ad down' would be used more if you were doing a fancy script and did not want the Mokum Ad appearing. Sometimes sending for E.g. to a government agency, they do not allow ads at all thus you could check the No Ad box.

Click for larger image. Now that we have all our settings done......click on 'View' to see what your theme will look like. Note that this preview also shows your quoted text box which will only show when you use this Theme in a REPLY to someone!

If you want to adjust any settings or change any colors, click on the done button and once back in your 'Theme' window... make your changes.

STEP 5

Click for larger image. Now that we are happy with all our settings and colors, it is time to save our theme.

Click on the 'SAVE' button, which with v6.0 will now open a new window.

Click for larger image. You can either just name your theme keeping it in one list OR put it into a category as I have done with mine.

Click for larger image. Click OK and a thumbnail of your theme will now be made.

Click OK and close your theme window. You are now ready to write your message!

Finally...Using Your Theme:

Click for larger image. Let's start at the beginning once more! From the 'Main' window click on 'Create Message' and choose your recipient. You can access your ready-made themes by clicking on the little ' Mill ' button.

Click for larger image. Highlight the category you need (if you have more than one) and then the theme. This is where we now see the thumbnail preview that MM made! Click SELECT and you are now back in the editor ready to begin your message...

I hope this has helped you in understanding how to make a 'Corner Theme'!
