MMF files... Downloading " Ready Made's " and Creating your own!
With version 4.02 of Mokum Mail, we added a great feature for using and creating .MMF (Mokum Mail format) files. All of you with v6.0 HAVE this feature! These are files made using Mokum Mail for yourself and other users of Mokum Mail.
You can compare an .MMF file with a ZIP file. It is an easy way to share and use a stationery with the HTM file, images and sound files all included in one .MMF file!
So this seems to be a good time to do a lesson on them. It is really very easy and once you know how, I am sure it is a feature you will use again and again.
This lesson consists of two parts:
- Downloading and using a Pre-Made (many of which are made by you!) .MMF file
- Exporting and Saving as a .MMF file, a stationery you have made.
Let's Get Started ... Part One (Downloading and Using an .MMF file)
First off, click HERE to download and save several .MMF files of your choosing. These can be saved anywhere ,but to keep things tidy you may want to keep them in your ...\MM_Data\MM_MMF files folder.
NOTE: IF you receive a message where someone has attached a .MMF file and you click on it from the attached drop down list (when viewing the message in the Preview/Plain text window) it will open for you to view. When you close that view, MM will immediately give you the option to save that MMF file to your folder. If you do not want it, simply click cancel in that box.
Next...
Open Mokum Mail and click on the Create Stationery button. With the Edit window now open, click on the SCRIPT button...
...and browse to your MMF folder.
A RIGHT-Click on any will open it for viewing. If that is the one you want to use, close the viewing and again highlight that file and click on the Select button. Mokum Mail will extract all the files within that .MMF into a sub-directory and immediately launch the script into the editor. Search for the area where you see YOUR TEXT HERE.... This is where you will write your message.
NOTE:You will notice that once you import your script, the area where your text will go will be Highlighted already for you!
Make sure that your text is INSIDE the "Start" and "End" comment tags. You can of course use the various HTML buttons (bold, italic etc) on text within this area as well. Want a smiley? No problem! Add them or other pictures anywhere you like. You can add extra line-breaks to your text by clicking on the
button.
Once done, Click on ' View Message in Browser ' to see if everything is as you want it!
If all is well, close the Browser window, Click on your Friends' button and select your addressee, Fill in the subject field and Click Send!!
Using other sources.
In Addition: IF you have been an Incredimail user OR if you have merely acquired .IMF (Incredimail stationery letters), you CAN use these in Mokum Mail in exactly the same way as .MMF files discussed above. After clicking on your Script button, browse to the folder that has your .IMF files and import into Mokum Mail the same as we did in the steps above. MM will clean out the unnecessary things from the script and will insert automatically the Text Area comment tags so you can easily see where to type your message.
TIP: This may be the best time to mention another feature: the WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) Editor! If you are one to get lost easily amongst html language, then you will love this feature! After importing your script, click on the WYSIWYG button.
Now you will SEE easily where your message will go! Simply highlight the " Your Text Here " and replace it with your own message. Unfortunately the WYSIWYG editor does not work in the current version of Vista... We are working on it.
When finished, click on the DONE button at the top and you will be back in the MM editor. Check again by clicking "View Message in Browser" to see if you are satisfied. If okay, Send your message!
Part Two ... Export and Save a stationery as a .MMF file
In order to export as a .MMF, you first need to create something! ;-) You may want to use one of the previous lessons and make a Corner theme (lesson 3), a Side border (lesson 4), or one of the Table lessons (lesson 7). Make sure all your settings etc are as you want them and then View in the Browser to be sure. When satisfied, we are ready to Export it. MM will remind you if you don't, so you might want to first put a short descriptive name in the Subject Field. Then Click on the Export button.
Next...
After you click on the Export button, a window with several export (as different file type) options will pop up. Of course we want to use the .MMF option, as that is what we are doing here! ;-)
Now at this point...IF you have not added Text area comment tags to your message (by clicking where the text will go and pressing function key F9), MM will remind you with this message.
NOTE: This is really the easiest way to add your Text area... No chance of making a boo boo! So when you get this box, click ok and then place your cursor in the message area and press F9 and the Text area tag will be inserted. Click Export again and proceed as before.
Mokum Mail will now create the file and this window will pop up for you to store it.
You are best advised to create the MMF file in a seperate folder, not in the folder where the original script and pictures are stored. Actually I find it easiest to keep any .MMF files that I have downloaded, as well as any I create, in the same ...\MM_Data\MM_MMF files folder.
Now this newly created MMF can be attached to a message and sent to any MM user for use!
Now...
To use it again yourself, simply use the SCRIPT button as we did in the first part of this lesson!
This is a great feature even if you aren't sharing files. Say you have created a very complicated stationery using scripts and/or tables etc, you have adapted it with your own images and colors, and it took hours to do! You want to be able to re-use it... Before, you could save it as a .HTM file but there was always the chance that you decide to " CLEAN " your PC and OOOPS, you dumped the image used! Now you can create a .MMF of that stationery (which is like a ZIP file containing all files used) and there is no chance of mis-placing a file used as long as you have the MMF!
Next time you want to use that stationery, the work is done. You do not have to re-create, but simply load it back into the Editor with the SCRIPT button.
Finally...
Let's see all of you try this!
- Send a post to the group using a downloaded .MMF file.
- Create a stationery, export it as a .MMF file and attach it to a message and send to the group if you are a member (registered users only).
Hopefully I have explained this so it is easy for all to understand!.
