Does Mokum Mail Protect You?
by Joop Blokker
No, Mokum Mail is a fine E-mailer, not a specialized anti-spam program. Mokum Mail WARNS you if it finds that possible dangerous attachments come with a message, but nowadays the crooks are using other methods. It really is
their Lucky Day if they succeed in luring you into connecting to their web site. E.g. you should not trust any message that says "Your Friend sends you an E-Card" without literally saying WHO is the one who sent you that E-Card. Ask yourself "Is there ANY ONE that I know, who would send me an E-Card like this?" If the answer is "No"... DELETE THE MESSAGE.
Also: If you receive a message that seems to come from your bank urging you to enter your name and password at some site... DON'T DO IT. Go to or call your bank on the phone instead.
REMEMBER: YOU ARE THE BEST SPAM FILTER: Message headers from unknown senders are in the top section of the MM Main Window, their e-mail addresses are neither in your MM Address Book nor in your MM White List. Please read Becky's fine column and read more about all the ways thieves from all over the world try to get YOUR money in THEIR pocket, at this fine Australian site:

Take care out there!
Joop.

RUN Mokie RUN!
by Karen Shirron
Have you ever investigated the
RUN field shown in MM's Main window?

Which can also be accessed from the Quick Message Editor window?
You may think this is just a quick and handy way to get to Mokum Mail's main site, or the Academy lessons and also to the many MMF's available for free download.
BUT it can be a handy tool for so much more! Use it for what is pertinent to
YOU.
- You can paste a URL or pick one from your list
- You can insert the file path to call up a program
- You can insert the file path for a file
You can see mine below where I have added links that I often want to access in a pinch, often while I am reading or writing an email message. E.g Should I get a mail that needs something translated, I can easily copy the text, click my RUN button, highlight my "Translator Link" and click OK. Immediately IE opens up to that page where I can paste my text and hopefully have a clue now what the message is about!

I have a feeling that many of you have not used this handy tool...Why not give it a try!! It could make things just a wee bit easier! Here is a FUN link that you may want to add to the RUN menu:
http://www.internetlankar.se/spel/tetrix2.html just copy and paste it, thanks for the link, Gitte!

Anti Virus That's A Virus...
by Becky Darsey
I have recently been fighting with another virus threat that has hit the internet in full force... it is XP or Vista Antivirus 2008 -- which is actually a virus.. and get this, you actually PAY for it in some cases! In the past month I have dealt with several incidences of this each week, that's why I add this little note in our newsletter to watch out for it. Its pretty bad and often requires formatting the computer... would hate for any of our users to lose their stuff!
Antivirus2008 is a corrupt anti-virus tool that is widely promoted as a legitimate security application. In truth, it is nothing more than another scam of the countless army of malware parasites attacking computers via internet, daily. Antivirus2008 (also known as Antivirus 2008) is distributed through malicious websites that sell other fake anti spyware tools as well.
Antivirus2008 is an unreliable program that displays exaggerated scan results in order to gain a purchase. DO NOT trust this scam and remove Antivirus2008 ASAP if you've been infected.
