GMail Settings.
by Joop Blokker
I know that many have a GMail account, it's free and it's not bad at all. However... GMAIL is 'special', to say the least...

They have TWO mail boxes: an INBOX that you see when you go to
http://www.GMail.com and copies of all messages can go into their POPBOX that you can access using Mokum Mail.
When you download a message (and 'viewing' a message in the plain text window IS downloading the message too...), GMail automatically deletes it from their POP box. So after downloading messages to your hard disk, you do not have to delete them from the GMail server.. they do it for you. That is why I do not place 'Del' in the delete column when you D/L messages to your pc.
PLEASE NOTE that downloading/deleting messages from the POPBOX will NOT delete the same messages from the GMail INBOX -- so you must go on-line to their WEB mail and checkmark/trash them manually from the INBOX. On the other hand, when you delete messages on-line, the same messages that are still in the POPBOX
are deleted as well!
Here is how I did the GMail settings
to get copies of all messages in their POP box, so I can retrieve them using Mokum Mail:
- Go to http://www.GMail.com and log in.
- Click on SETTINGS at the top-right
- Click on the FORWARDING AND POP tab.
- Set POP DOWNLOAD 1. Status to: ' Enable POP for all mail '
- Set 2. to: ' keep GMail's copy in the inbox '
NOTE: When you download a message -
even to view it in MM's plain text preview window - then GMail will automatically remove the message from their POP box. In other words: once you download a message, you do not have to delete the message from the server, GMail deletes it automatically. That is why you should keep a copy in GMail's INBOX in case you want to view the removed message later via GMail's WEB Mail. BUT viewing this message at the gmail site will not show the message as intended; backgrounds and etc will not appear...

This is why Mokie gives you a warning when first opening your GMmail account ending with: "You are best advised to download the messages you want directly to your hard disk, by marking them and clicking on the D/L button".
Last but not least, here you see the Server set-up. Don't forget to checkmark the SSL box, GMail requires an SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) connection.
Take care out there!

Christmas Is Coming Soon...
by Becky Darsey
I went to the store the other day, and although I expected to see Halloween decorations scattered throughout, I was caught unexpectedly by the Christmas decorations that are already being stocked on store shelves! Can it possibly be that time again? I decided that if the stores can do it, so can I, and I have officially started my Christmas shopping. I also want to keep my life simple, and that is made much easier by shopping online, and I can do all of my shopping
in just one place...
What better gift could you give to friends and family than that of security and fun all bundled into one neat package? That is what Mokum Mail gives you, and that is what you can give others! Mokie works hard to keep your computer safe from spammers and viruses, all the while letting you send and see the most amazing creations. You can create a photo story with pictures you want to share, or you can add music that helps to convey the message you are sending (You could send the "happy birthday" song along with your message).
How many people do you know who could benefit from using Mokie? With the built in calendar with reminders, the address book with the option of photos to identify your contacts, and all of the other amazing features, it is the perfect gift for anyone who uses e-mail.
