The past six months the wonderful Beta Testers group and yours sincerely have worked very hard on the Mokum Mail program, also known as "Mokie".
The user interface is refurbished - you can now have 3-D buttons and the placement of buttons is more 'logical' - but there is more! We developed a feature that we called the "Greeting Card Maker". It's a one screen stationery maker, so you don't see a scroll bar at the right. So, what's the fun of a one-screen e-mail...? The fun is that creating a Greeting Card with music, animation and all kinds of bells & whistles is a Piece Of Cake now, no joke! You first select a background image. Next you pick .GIF or .JPG images and place them anywhere you want 'on' the background image by clicking on 'arrow' buttons. Then you enter some text in a text box and while you are doing all this, you IMMEDIATELY see the result on screen, see the screenshot above, when I tinkered an aquarium with animated fishes GIFs. When you're done, you click the DONE button and Mokie writes the HTML code for you. And after that, if you wish, you can fine-tune your script. You will notice that the 'Card' fits any screen size, from 1024x768 to wide-screen monitors. Is it that easy..? Yes, it is that easy. Did I ever lie to you..? We have put 80 beautiful MMF "Greeting Cards" -- created by the Magnificent Beta Testers while we were developing this new feature -- at the Mokie site. Have a look: http://www.MokumMail.nl/MMF/ You can use the Mokie "Greeting Card" feature to send a PERSONALIZED Birthday, Anniversary, Happy New Year or "Get Well" message in a jiffy. Is it available yet? Nope... not yet! I just want you to know that we aren't resting on our laurels... Because of the new look and the many new features, the HELP needs to be totally re-worked as well -- this job will keep Karen and I outta the bar for a while! We plan to launch the next version on October 1, 2009. BUT... for the time being, you can download and use the 80 "Greeting Card Style" MMF's from This Page . And ofcourse you can use MMF's with the FREEWARE "LITE" version. Try it. One MM Greeting Card on your screen says more than a thousand words. Are you excited yet..? We are! My calendar reminder for this article has been popping up for days and I keep telling it to go away as I couldn't think of something to write about! After 2 weeks of 'on the road' vacation time and a week of trying to catch up after vacation, my mind kept going blank. So I decided to make it really simple and since summer officially arrived, I shall wish everyone a lazy, happy and restful summer (Winter to those Down Under....).But DO keep a watch for the latest version of Mokie which SHOULD be available in the next couple months!! The new Greeting Card Maker is really awesome and a fun tool to play with!! Joop and I are presently re-working the Info files as there were many changes made also to MM's interface...all GOOD changes! Once done with that , we shall re-work the lessons as there will need to be changes made to those as well. So enjoy your summer and when fall arrives and the weather starts changing and you find yourself inside and on the computer more, perhaps you may want to tackle the lessons all over again!! For those of you here in the States, here's wishing you a Happy and Safe 4th of July!!
