What's New and Improved in v6.0
by Joop Blokker
Below is a list of the new features and enhancements made in Mokum Mail from v5.0 to v6.0!
The White List feature is in place, you will see the new white

button in the main window. Here is how it works:
- When you click in the top-window (where you see messages of New/Unknown senders), you can highlight any line. Then click on the [WL] button to add the sender's e-mail address to the White List.
- First a check is made to be sure the sender is not in your Black Listed Addresses or your Black Listed Domains already... If so, a warning message pops up and you should edit these lists first.
- White Listed e-mail addresses are NOT added to your address book. They are merely registered as ' OK ' and will show up in the lower part of the Main Window.
- When done, you will see the contents of the new White List file which you can edit to your heart's content. So if you made a mistake, just edit that MM-WHITE.DAT file.
MM Shows the number of waiting messages. When you click on the '#' header in the servers window the NUMBER of waiting messages will be retrieved from all accounts.
Show Time! When you retrieve message headers from the server, the header in the Server(s) table shows the time of the last download.
Quick Marking. When you RIGHT-CLICK in the BL, Del or D/L column of the main window, you can mark all headers to be blacklisted, deleted or downloaded with one click. Many checks are coded.
Black list management. If an address is in the blacklist, the blacklisted domains or in the white list, the file is opened and the address or domain is high-lighted; you do not have to search for it yourself any more.
Plain Text Preview Window.
Reading Out Loud! When you view a message in the Plain Text Preview window, in the MM Browser or in MM's Editor window, the text will be read out loud when you press the F12 function key. Pressing the Escape key stops the reading. Also when you read a ' tip ' you can have the text read out loud.
Cursor placement. When you REPLY to a message, the words "YOUR TEXT HERE" are inserted just below the UNQUOTE tag and these words are high-lighted.
Handy Link feature. In the editor you find a new button: You see the world and a chain,

in other words, it's a ' hyper link '. You can create a hyper link by typing some words. Hi-light the words, click on the hyper link button and type the url. The link you typed will be saved automatically to re-use again and again. You can do the same for an e-mail address and also a picture can be embedded in a hyperlink.
Eye Catcher.
The
annotate feature is improved.
Theme Viewer.
The little Mill button in the editor shows all your themes as thumbnail picture of the full stationery and it has a search field. When you click on this Mill button the first time, all thumbnail .JPG pictures will be created and stored in a new folder: .\MM_Data\MM_System\ThemePics
Subject reminder. Subject Line. You can set the Subject Line reminder at the start or end when you are composing a New Message (see Preferences). If you set it to ' End ' and you complete the subject while you are typing the new message, you will not be nagged at all.
How does it look in OE?
Preview a stationery from MM's Editor in Outlook Express. You see this new button in the editor next to the "View in Browser" button.
Oops...! In case something goes wrong while sending a message, a report now shows the possible cause of the problem.
Short cut keys. In MM's editor you can click on the little [B] button to apply the Bold tag, on the [I] button for the Italic tag or the [U] button for the Underscore tag. Key stroke shortcuts have been added which allow you to use Ctrl+B for Bold, Ctrl+I for Italic and Ctrl+U for Underscore tags. Ctrl+F calls Find and Ctrl+R calls Find/Replace.
Transparent scroll bars. In the TABLE WIZARD SCROLL BAR WINDOW you can now define a transparent color yourself. You can also define the colors for the Main Window scroll bar! With the COPY button you can easily make the colors of the main window scroll bar equal to the colors of the table scroll bar.
Sing a Birthday song!
Make sure your mike works (check in the Windows Control Panel, a mike in Web Cam should work too) and click on the button. It was never easier to add a spoken message or even a song(!) to your e-mail.
Important Important...! The Priority feature is in place. When sending a message you can select High / Normal / Low priority.
Better Font Control.
In the Editor the button to make font smaller or larger is handled differently. Instead of merely selecting +2, +1, -1 or -2, you can define exactly the font size of a high-lighted section. You are also able to change the font name and the attributes.
Better control. The file names in the Themes are checked to see if the files exist. IF the file does not exist then Mokie checks to see if the program is installed on a different medium.
Categories! In the Theme Window you can click on the SAVE button, as always, but now you can create and/or add the Theme to a Category ... e.g. ' Flowers ' and ' Cats '... and so on.
Auto Theme Thumbnail. While a Theme is being saved, a thumbnail picture for the Little Mill feature is created.
Nicer Scroll Bars. In the THEME WINDOW you see a new SCROLL BAR button. You can select a Quick or Detailed setting.
See how they did it! In the Browser you see a new button: SOURCE.
Listen to the message. When you view a received message in the Plain Text Preview window or in the MM Browser, the text will be read out loud when you press the F12 function key. Pressing the Escape key stops the reading.
Snatch them! You can extract pictures & music from messages stored in the INBOX and it's subdirectories.
Controlled downloads In the INBOX you find the button MESSAGE RULES. This feature can also be selected from the Preferences window.
Reply/Forward from Inbox. In the INBOX you can press Function Key F3 to reply to a message and Function Key F4 to forward a message.
See before you choose... New file picker shows Thumbnail Images when selecting smiley's, stationery, music, scripts... To see a picture, just left-click on a file name. To hear the music first select with left-click and then right-click.
In the Pictures/Music/Smileys File Menu you see a SEARCH field where you can type one (1) letter or number. The list will jump to the file name that starts with that character. You can use the up/down arrow keys and finally the ENTER Key to select a file or click the small button or the SELECT button.
Better control. The Message Rules feature is improved. Now you can leave the e-mail address blank and just put a search word in the Subject search box.
Look what you did! The address book is improved. After you add, change or remove a record, you will see the change immediately.
Send to many... Picking addresses for the BCC line works differently now. You can add more than one BCC address from the Address List. You can also include a "group.txt" entry (group file) when sending a BCC message.
See it all... The ADDRESS BOOK can scroll up and down, but it will now scroll right and left, as well, in order to see all fields. The name field at the left will always stay in sight when you scroll the list to the right.
Quick Modify. In the ADDRESS BOOK (accessed from the Main Window!) you see a new button to CHANGE your e-mail address in each and every record; this simplifies the process IF you find yourself with an email address change!
This is what you have been waiting for... When you view a message in MM's Browser (from the MM Editor, from the THEME window, from a received message in the Main Window or from the Inbox ) and you press Function Key F11, the color of the pixel at the tip of the mouse cursor will be shown. You can copy the color number to the clipboard and paste it in your script or Theme.
New Look! The buttons are re-designed.
Take a picture. When you press Function Key F10 you will get the Screen Capture window. You can make a capture of the current MM window. You can create a series of screen dumps because you can have Mokie add a sequence number automatically.
More Freedom. MM's MM-SRV50.DAT file (which contains the server data) and MM-DATA.INI file (which contains all your color settings, default folders etc) will automatically be moved out of the C:\Windows folder into MM's own folder. It's easy now to take Mokie with you on vacation... Store it on a memory stick!
Kind regards,
The Mokum Mail Team.
